Hello everyone and welcome back to another great episode of Teach One Tuesday podcast. We're going to be getting into some great subjects and get into some great books, but before we do that family, let's get into that theme music. All right, everyone, welcome back. Welcome back to another great episode of Teach One Tuesday podcast. Man, we're doing future number three.
Speaker 1:I had to extend this because it's important to think about your future right now, right now, and what seeds need to be sown presently so that you can benefit later on. It's essential, it's important, and so this episode we're going to be diving into some resources, you know. And so before I do that, i just want to reiterate some things, and the first thing is that you know, obviously, your talent by itself is not enough. I understand your gifted, your talented, you can do, you know, amazing things. I get it, i understand it, but if you want to benefit from your gift or gifts, you have to learn how to present yourself. You have to start thinking about business. You have to start thinking about how to sell yourself on and offline, how to take care of your money, where to put it, how to grow it, how to grow it when you're not, when you're sleeping. All these things are important and how you get this information. Actually, today is so many ways you can get this information. So, and I'll just say a few where we're here, of course there are books you can you can get, and today, if you don't, even if you don't want to actually read the book, you can get an audio book. So there's really no excuse get an audio book or get a regular book. But those like to just hold, hold the book in your hand, you can get electronic, you can get a little electronic electronically by the book that way. And so there are videos on social media that you can look up. You know, depending on what the subject is, you know you can look up, you can look at it, look it up on social media. You can take classes. You know there's so many ways. There are blogs, there are, there are podcasts, like this one. So there are so many ways you can get some great information. And that's what I am pointing to.
Speaker 1:And, as promised, i have a stack of books here that I want to. You know that I want to present and I'm going to encourage you to go and purchase these books and to really begin this deep dive into, you know, really getting the information that you need. I know that. You know we grew up and and someone told you you were talented and gifted and and that was it, and you thought that was all of it, all that that was there to it, and you know, obviously that isn't the case, and so you need to have an understanding in different areas. Even if you delegate, at some point, you still need to have some basic information. Okay, so I'm going to present these books to you and the authors and I'm going to suggest that you check these books out. Some of them have, some have been updated, you know. So go and check them out on Amazon. It's the easiest place to go get you anything, or you can go to your local bookstore. However you want to do it, i like to. Even though we have Amazon, i like to go to the bookstore, so I'd like to go to the bookstore. It's just fun to me. That's just me. Okay, slush up in here. What I want to.
Speaker 1:The first thing I want to suggest here is why the rich are getting richer. Now you may be thinking to yourself this is a music podcast. Why are we talking about rich people and what you know? it's essential that you get an understanding as to how millionaires and billionaires think, as it pertains to money, as it pertains to business, as it pertains to wealth, and so I would encourage you oh, this is by Robert Kiyosaki, forgive me, robert Kiyosaki why the rich are getting richer? I would encourage you to go get this book to get an understanding as to how they think about money. Usually, consumers, usually consumers, just think about money in the following way They treat their time for money, you know, you get paid, pay some bills, maybe get something that they like or want. You know, shove a good portion of it in the savings. Now, savings is important, but there, but it needs to be a purpose for your savings, all right. So saving just for the sake of saving doesn't make sense, especially when inflation is concerned, because the value of our dollar continues to decrease, all right. So go check that book out, all right.
Speaker 1:Next one is the music business. Let me see Donald S Passman. Right, passman, donald S Passman. I would encourage you to go pick up this book. Talking about the music industry, contracts, record deals, you know, songwriting deals, all kinds of stuff in this book has been updated, so I would encourage you to go check out this book. It is invaluable. It is amazing that someone he's a lawyer, this guy that he's taking the time to put all his information in a book for us. You can also get the audio book, so please don't make any excuses, just go and pick it up. Just go and pick up this book.
Speaker 1:Okay, next book How to Make It in the New Music Business, in the New Music Business. This is by Ari Hurston. I think I pronounced that right Ari Hurston, a-r-i first name, last name, h-e-r-s-t-a-n-d. All right, so again, i'm sure this book has been updated by the author. Of course, things have changed as far as the music industry is concerned. There are new ways that they new ways and new things that people are doing, and so I would encourage you to go check out the. Go check out this book And, once again, i'm not sure they have an audio book for that particular one. I wouldn't be surprised if they do. But go check it out, local bookstore, amazon. Speaker 1:It is important, all right, that we have an understanding, especially when you're signing things out there, signing contracts and all that kind of stuff. Know what you are signing. These two, those last two books I just suggested. Please go check them out. All about the. All you need to know about the music business. I didn't read the whole thing, forgive me. All you need to know about the music business, donald S Passman, and How to make it in the new music business, Ari Herston. All right, those two are very important, so go check them out.
Speaker 1:Okay, the next book I'm going to suggest sell like crazy. This is by sobri Subi. I'm going to pray. I pronounced that correctly. Okay, this is about selling. This is about selling, you know, whatever it is Yourself, products, services, whatever. This is a very powerful book, a book that I'm really going to be going to be referencing For a long time now. It's an international bestseller. The subtitle is how to get as many clients, customers and sales as you can possibly Handle, and so this is important. Now You may be thinking to yourself once again What does this have to do with music? Everything, because we have an advantage today, having social media, but it's so crowded, so you need to know how to separate yourself. Separate yourself. I'm also going to suggest another one Hookpoint on Brendan Kane. But he brought Brendan Kane. Yeah, the subtitle was how to stand out in the three-second world along the same lines as sell like crazy.
Speaker 1:Okay, i just suggested Five, five books to you to get you started, to get you started on your education. Okay, as far as selling yourself, as far as the music business, as far as money is concerned, you know, i will get books on some basic stuff. As it pertains to finances, It's important because what I need you to know is that your gift is just the beginning. Your practice time, you're, you know, your study time, as far as you know, you give us concern. It's just the beginning, just the beginning. You need to learn how to sell. You need to learn where to put your money. You need to learn about contracts, all these things, and take your time doing it. Okay, you even have Websites that give you a synopsis of books.
Speaker 1:These days, i mean, you know, what else can they do for us? What else can they do? All right, so they're, they're giving, they're giving us all the information, giving us all the tools. You even have. I saw a website the other day where it's easier. I forgot what it's, i forgot what it's called, but it's. They're making it so much easier for you to sell up an LLC.
Speaker 1:You know, just start your business. You know, come on, Come on, all right. So I am encouraging you Educate yourself, get ready for the world. Contained, yes, continue to practice, continue to do all those things, learn, grow, do all those things. All right, and I might do a future, for because I just want to probably go, i want to go into mindset, but I'm I'm giving you guys the tools because it is essential. So many people have been taken advantage of over the years and I don't want that to be your story. So I'm telling you, i'm begging you, even to start your journey. Educate yourself, do some great things with your gift and Benefit from it now and in the future. All right, i want to thank you so much for checking this out before we go.
